That was the case especially in Japan. After the band split around 1979 Ford started a lucrative solo career in metal. She started taking lessons in vocals. Her first solo release was called 'Dancing on the Edge'. Ford went off the music scene for several months after the albums failed to gain much popularity. The hit album Lita which came out in 1989, was the catalyst that led to her reemergence. The lead song "Kiss me Deadly" and the ballad "Close My Eyes Forever" were huge hit songs. The singer disappeared from the industry for a few years after her short-lived commercial success. Her 'Black" album came out in 1995. Her 'Wicked Wonderland" released almost fifteen years later. In 2016, her latest album'Time Capsule'' was released. Guitar Player Magazine awarded her the prestigious Certified Guitar Legend Award.
